Build Your Own Sunroom

Here's what I started with. Not a bad deck, but nothing fancy. Just your typical 8' x 16.5' deck, elevated about 6' off the ground, with steps down at one end.

Built from treated lumber, it was structurally sound, and although its 6" x 6" support posts were resting on concrete blocks as opposed to being bolted to poured footings, a level check indicated that it had not moved in its previous 7 years. We live about 2 kms from the Atlantic Ocean, and bedrock is not far below the ground's surface, which is what I attribute this stability to. I was initially a bit apprehensive about building my sunroom on such a foundation, but have had no problems after 6 winters.

My first challenge was building the roof for my sunroom.
